Angle and pitching
- Topic comes first; the link follows from it (not the other way round)
- The angle passes the “would a publisher accept this without the link?” test
- Pitch is a topic, not a link request
- The topic doesn’t already exist on the publisher (or the pitch clearly extends it)
- Price negotiated to fit the placement, not accepted from a rate card by default
Publisher checks
- Site passes the full Site Qualification checklist (DR 40+ filter, 2,000+ visits, relevance, no W4U pages, link-farm screen)
- The publisher’s audience overlaps with the client’s buyers
- Publisher publishes original work (spot-check a few posts for syndication)
Writing
- Drafted by the AI tool, shaped by a person for the publisher’s tone and the product’s truth
- Unique on this placement — no template reshuffles across clients
- One clear argument with a worked example, a method, or a data point
- Client quote or input used where it strengthens the piece (publishers prefer it)
- Product claims verified — nothing the client’s team wouldn’t sign
- Link sits inside the argument, in a paragraph a reader would want
- Anchor follows the anchor plan (brand/URL/descriptive mix, no exact-match spam)
Before publishing
- Client approves the publisher, the draft and the anchor
- Fee disclosure to client (if the publisher charges)
- Author bio consistent with the client’s positioning (or publisher’s guest conventions)
After go-live
- Article live, link pointing at the agreed URL, placement indexed
- Logged: publisher, URL, anchor, target page, fee flag, go-live date
- 12-month monitoring scheduled; replaced free if removed
- If the article ranks for its own topic, note it — that’s bonus reach beyond the link
